This time next week, some of the very best padel players in the entire world will be on court at Taktika Padel in sunny San Diego competing in the third major event hosted by the Pro Padel League (PPL), after seeing record viewership for their previous event earlier this year in Miami. Here’s everything you need to know about PPL Event 3:

  • The PPL is North America’s first and only professional padel league.

  • PPL Event 3 — which will take place at Taktika Padel on the grounds of the award-winning Barnes Tennis Center in San Diego — will be the final event of the 2024 PPL regular season and over $150,000 in prize money is on the line.

  • Over 60% of the players competing in PPL Event 3 are ranked top 50 in the world — including Ariana Sanchez (world no. 1, Miami Padel Club) Pablo Lima (former no. 1, Flowrida Goats), Juan Martín Díaz (no. 1 for 14 years, New York Atlantics), Fede Chingotto (no. 8, New York Atlantics), Miguel Lamperti (former no. 2, San Diego Stingrays), Agustin Tapia (no. 4, Miami Padel Club), and Marta Ortega (former no. 1, current no. 6, Las Vegas Smash).

  • Round-robin play is set to start on Monday, August 19th and continue through Friday, August 23rd, with the semifinals being held Saturday, August 24th and the final on Sunday, August 25th.

  • General admission tickets are free, reserved seating tickets start at $40, and VIP tickets start at $150.
Highlights for PPL Event 2 Finals
  • Ten teams will compete for the chance to lift the PPL Cup including the Las Vegas Smash (2023 Champions), Cancun Waves (2023 Finalists), Miami Padel Club, Flowrida Goats, San Diego Stingrays, Los Angeles BEAT, Arkansas Matrix, Toronto Polar Bears, New York Atlantics, and Houston Volts.

  • The competition format for will include men’s doubles, women’s doubles, and a mixed doubles match.

  • At the conclusion of PPL Event 3 in San Diego, the top eight teams in the league standings will advance to the PPL Cup being held in November.

  • Currently, the Los Angeles BEAT and the Miami Padel Club are at the top of the rankings after having each captured a regular season event title in Miami earlier this year in April.

Of PPL Event 3, commissioner Marcos del Pillar says, “Our final event of the regular season in San Diego is going to have unbelievable competition and intense, exciting matches. We are looking forward to an incredible week of matches and seeing which PPL teams qualify for the PPL Cup in November.”
