You can now add Denver to the ever-growing list of U.S. metro areas with multiple padel clubs — along with the likes of Austin, Dallas, Houston, Los Angeles, Miami, New York, San Diego, and San Francisco — thanks to Padel Haus, which announced yesterday that they just broke ground on a new club in the Mile High City.
This facility, which is set to open late this year at 2501 Welton Street, will be the sixth Padel Haus location to open in the U.S. and the first west of the Mississippi River.
It will also be only the second padel club to open (so far) in all of Colorado, a state known for its love of sports of all varieties and athletic pursuits in general. In a state also known for its snowy winters, it is particularly notable that Padel Haus Denver will offer the only indoor padel courts thus far in Colorado.
The new club will feature five total indoor courts with reasonably high 25-foot ceilings, as well as all of of Padel Haus’s signature wellness offerings and luxury amenities, such as a “Juice Haus,” upscale locker rooms with rain showers, gym, co-working spaces, and a pro shop.
Robert Gurolnick, the teaching pro at the home of Colorado’s original padel courts, Parker Racquet Club, welcomes the arrival of Padel Haus Denver, telling me, “We’d heard some rumors about Padel Haus opening in Denver and are excited to hear its actually finally going to happen. If anything, a huge national success story like them coming to Denver proves Parker’s gamble on building the first padel courts in Colorado was a smart one and the sport is really going to take off here in a big way.”
He adds, “It’ll be great for our members to have a place to play indoors on days when there’s snow on the ground, and we look forward to having their members come play on our outdoor courts on all of the warm, sunny days Colorado offers up almost year-round. I hope to get plenty of club vs. club leagues and tournaments going, too. This is going to be fun, and great for the sport here in Denver!”
Padel Haus CEO Santiago Gomez was equally enthusiastic about bringing padel to the Mile High City, saying, “Denver’s welcoming spirit and enthusiasm for new sporting experiences make it an ideal destination for our expansion.”
He also commented extensively on their specific location on the edge of the up-and-coming River North (RiNo) neighborhood of Denver, which a press release from Padel Haus describes as, “[an] eclectic neighborhood renowned for its thriving arts scene, industrial-chic ambiance, and converted warehouses adorned with colorful murals and graffiti art, serving as a canvas for local and international artists alike.”
Of bringing a unique athletic- and wellness-focused offering like Padel Haus to a unique neighborhood like RiNo Gomez says, “We are proud to introduce Padel Haus to the vibrant community of downtown Denver and RiNo. As we expand our footprint deeper in the U.S., we recognize the importance of embracing diverse neighborhoods and contributing positively to their fabric.
By opening our sixth club overall in Denver, we aim to not only provide access to the exciting sport of padel, but also to support the ongoing revitalization in this eclectic neighborhood while still pursuing our main goal of being the go-to padel club for thousands of players with locations everywhere in the country.
With our commitment to fostering a sense of community and well-being, we look forward to becoming an integral part of the RiNo neighborhood and the broader Denver community.”
