After two big events earlier this year at Ultra Padel Club in Miami and Taktika Padel in San Diego and another three days of intense competition this week at the iconic Duggal Greenhouse in Brooklyn, the sophomore season of the Pro Padel League (PPL) will be wrapping up in style over the next 36 hours.
At 4pm ET this afternoon, the first semifinal will begin with the Miami Padel Club taking on the Toronto Polar Bears. Following that, the Flowrida Goats will take on the hometown New York Atlantics in the second semifinal, which is set to begin at 7pm. (You can watch YouTube live-streams of both matches right here.)
Then the winners of those two matches will then meet in the finals showdown tomorrow evening at 7pm ET, which you can live-stream here.
This tournament, which is the first-ever PPL event to take place in New York City, has featured top-tier players from around the world including Augustin Tapia, Ari Sanchez, Fede Chingotto, Martin Di Nenno, Gemma Triay, Paquito Navarro, Delfi Brea, Martita Ortega, and more.
And these padel legends have been representing the top eight teams from the PPL’s second season in a high-stakes, winner-take-all championship and a $100,000 first-place prize.
Given the level of padel talent concentrated in Brooklyn at the moment, it’s little wonder that that The City’s Cup has caught the attention of celebrity padel addicts like stand-up comedian Andrew Schulz, who even got on court with Chingotto and Tapia for a warm-up match at nearby Padel Haus.
According to the PPL, so far over the course of the 2024 season, matches have been streamed over 7.5M times and another 15,000+ people have turned up in person to watch its regular season tournaments. And this week’s PPL “City’s Cup” Championship will be will be broadcast to 300M+ households globally through major networks such as Fox Sports, Bally Sports, MSG Networks, DAZN, EuroSport, Tennis Channel, and more.
So, please be sure to tune in later today and again tomorrow to catch all of the action.
