While perennial padel powerhouses like Spain and Argentina predictably dominated the just-completed FIP World Padel Championships in Qatar, both the U.S. Men’s and Women’s National Teams did their country proud with incredibly strong performances and some impressive match wins.

Meanwhile, on the women’s side, the U.S. again scored a 2-0 victory in their final match of the tournament against Germany to secure 15th place.
Of the play of the men and women’s teams, the USPA said, “We couldn’t be prouder of their dedication, strength, and relentless spirit. Huge shout out to each player for leaving it all on the court and representing Team USA with pride and passion! 🇺🇸❤️”

Granted, the main point of his post was that he obviously believes there are simply too many racket sports to keep track of nowadays…
But after actually playing it, he might just follow in the footsteps of fellow comedy legend Andrew Schulz (who regularly shares his love of padel with his 4+ million Instagram followers) and discover padel is the only racket sport he ultimately cares about. We’ll see!

Squash Legend Adding Padel Courts to Cutting-Edge New Racket Facility in New Jersey
Recently, we wrote about the fact that more-and-more current and former pro athletes are opening U.S. padel clubs. We also laid out the case for why the most unique padel club in the U.S. just might be in Minnesota.
So, it’s only fitting that we now have yet another legendary athlete — namely former world #1 squash player, Peter Nicol — and his wife opening an ultra-unique racket sports facility known as Nicol New Jersey that will prominently feature padel.

Business Insider Says “Padel Is Electric” and “Coming for Pickleball’s Crown”
A just-published Business Insider article ($1 trial subscription required) says, “a racquet sport that starts with ‘P’ is gaining steam, but it’s not the one you’re thinking of” and links to another that asserts, “Padel is more fun than pickleball. But can the pricey racket sport enjoyed by America’s top 1% win over the whole country?”
In the latter, author Kathleen Elkins confesses of her first time playing padel, “I had low expectations for this game that had been described to me as a cross between tennis and squash. But it was my little brother’s one request. And it turned out he knew something I didn’t: padel is electric.”
