U.S. Men’s and Women’s National Teams Both Qualify for FIP World Padel Championships

After a weekend chock full of intense competition in Monterrey, Mexico against teams from the host country and Canada, both the men’s and women’s U.S. national teams have qualified for the final stage of the FIP World Padel Championships, scheduled from October 28 to November 2 in Doha, Qatar. 14,000+ Fans Pack Stands For the Finals of the Premier Padel P1 Tournament in Madrid

Shortly after announcing that they would be bringing their first-ever tournament to the U.S. next year, the Premier Padel tour demonstrated why U.S. padel fans should be excited with their dazzling showcase event in Madrid, Spain — which attracted 14,000+ fans for the final day of competition among the world’s top players. U.S. Fans Overwhelmingly Believe First-Ever Premier Padel Event Should/Will Be Held in Miami

In a recent poll we hosted on our LinkedIn page, readers and followers of The Padel State clearly expressed their belief that the first-ever Premier Padel event to be held on U.S. soil will take place in Miami, which is quickly becoming a global padel mecca — thanks in large part to stunning new projects like this one from Ultra Padel Club.

Business Insider Says “Padel Is Electric” and “Coming for Pickleball’s Crown”

A just-published Business Insider article ($1 trial subscription required) says, “a racquet sport that starts with ‘P’ is gaining steam, but it’s not the one you’re thinking of” and links to another that asserts, “Padel is more fun than pickleball. But can the pricey racket sport enjoyed by America’s top 1% win over the whole country?”

In the latter, author Kathleen Elkins confesses of her first time playing padel, “I had low expectations for this game that had been described to me as a cross between tennis and squash. But it was my little brother’s one request. And it turned out he knew something I didn’t: padel is electric.”

Las Vegas Smash Take Home the Trophy at Pro Padel League (PPL) Event 3 in San Diego

This past weekend, the Las Vegas Smash were crowned champions at the PPL’s final 2024 regular season event in San Diego, which took place at Taktika Padel located at the award-winning Barnes Tennis Center.

The Smash defeated the New York Atlantics in the final on Sunday after capturing both the women’s doubles and men’s doubles matches featuring the world’s best padel players and global superstars. You can get the full details here — or even watch a full replay of all the final day’s matches here.

Padel Finally Makes Its Way to Ohio

While details are scant at this point, a recent LinkedIn post from the president of PROSPORTCOURT, seems to confirm that Ohio will soon be home to at least one padel court somewhere in the Cleveland area. Which, if not at a private residence, would mean that Ohio will now be the 27th state with publicly accessible padel courts.

Swing Racquet + Paddle Finally Breaks Ground in North Carolina

As reported by multiple sources including local news outlets in Raleigh, NC, the mammoth 44-acre racket sports concept known as Swing Racquet + Paddle has finally broken ground.

Swing will be reportedly be home to 80 indoor and outdoor courts for several sports including 28 tennis courts, 25 pickleball courts, 15 padel courts, four beach tennis courts, and a ping pong lounge — which will make it the largest multi-racket-sports facility in the world.

While the $10 million the city of Raleigh invested into the concept may seem excessive or risky, the new facility is projected to create 300 jobs and drive an incredible $360 million in economic impact in its first three years, while attracting more than one million visitors.

Pro Padel League (PPL) Unveils Full Schedule for This Week’s Event 3 in San Diego

As we recently reported, many of the world’s top padel players will be in San Diego this week for Event 3 of the PPL at Taktika Padel. And late last week the PPL unveiled the full schedule for the week (pictured above) plus and a slew of other need to know details.

US National Teams Announced for Upcoming FIP World Qualifiers in Mexico

Last week, the United States Padel Association (USPA) revealed the official rosters for both the Men’s and Women’s US National Teams, which will compete in the FIP World Padel Championships North American Qualifiers in Monterrey, Nuevo León, Mexico, from September 6-7, 2024.

As the USPA notes: “The FIP World Padel Championships North American Qualifiers will be a crucial step on the road to the World Championships, where the top teams from each region will face off in a bid to be crowned the best in the world.”
